- The SIXT Service was excellent, prompt and courteous. They would have answered any Questions I had with ease & competence.
My only complaint is really with the Insurance company of the Driver of the other vehicle.
As a "Third Party" who was NOT AT FAULT in the vehicle accident, and thus put through quite a deal of inconvenience (including my time) and the ridiculously long wait on telephone, trying to call them (with information THEY needed) I was most dismayed at having to agree to a $1650 insurance excess for th'hired' vehicle - after all, I WASN'T THE PARTY HIRING THE VEHICLE - IT WAS BUDGET INSURANCE (Auto-General) who offered it as a loan" car for me.
For this reason, whilst that sounds like a good service from Budget, the must also realize that it is a stressful AND time-wasting experience for a third party to have to deal with. I object to having to agree to the exhorbitant excess, or any excess at all. In other words, when I'm not at fault, why must I BE FORCED TO TAKE THIS RISK? Budget paid the Uber fare from the repairer's to SIXT (as it was only a small cost) but should also pay for anything that the "Loan" car entitles - ANYTHING.
Another consideration is that the third party (myself) which SIXT & Budget incorrectly regard as the "Hirer" of the car, must drive a "loan" vehicle which is different to one's own in several ways - starting with the most essential appointments inside - eg indicator switch on the other side and in my case, an automatic transmission which I prefer not to drive. It sounds trivial, but must be used many times right from the time we begin the journey. This adds to the mandatory RISK I speak of.
(Whilst I acknowledge that this matter is not directly related to SIXT hire company, I would appreciate it if you would relay this issue to the Insurance company. It is something that third parties like myself will not be happy with, thus affecting SIXT's role in an indirect way, in any case.
The most important and VALID argument/fact here, is that Budget Insurance - NOT the innocent third party, is HIRING THE VEHICLE for us. We have put this issue before the AFCA body. We'll see if they agree with us.
